Pier Road has an array of cosy pubs, fun arcades and plenty of fish restaurants or continue down this road to the beautiful West Cliff Beach with its colourful beach huts. The swing bridge offers access across the River Esk at the other end of Pier Road. Climb the famous 199 steps up to the Church of Saint Mary here or discover the renowned ruined Whitby Abbey, which inspired Bram Stoker’s gothic novel ‘Dracula’.
