Venice and elegance go hand in hand, and at this fabulous home in San Francesco della Vigna, Castello, there's more than a touch of old Hollywood glamour. Set in a typical period building, it's got everything from exquisite marble floors and high ceilings to a pretty courtyard and large, en-suite bedrooms – all topped off with some striking pieces of colourful pop art. The home has a delightful entertaining space and a large dining table for eating inside, as well as a covered terrace so you can sip your morning coffee with a typically Venetian view of the rooftops. Less than a half-hour stroll from many of the area's big attractions, like St Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge, it's a quiet, residential area but you'll find plenty of restaurants and shops nearby.

This behemoth of the art world takes place in odd-numbered years, and is housed in the former shipyards that give the quarter its name. When the exhibition isn't on, you’ll find museums and ornate churches to explore, and an abundance...
