In the quiet, protected lakeland of Lower Mill Estate, this modern family home sits in the heart of Gloucester. Days here can be spent hiring kayaks and paddleboards, drifting amidst the reeds spotting heron and waterfowl. Following the lakeside walking and cycling trails, you might stumble across the odd otter, deer or badger too. At this home, you’ve got private access straight onto Clearwater Lake to launch a kayak or paddleboard. For the more sedate option, enjoy long lunches on the deck overlooking the lake or sit out in the sun with a good book. You've also got free access to the estate's luxury spa facilities with this home. Soak in the hot tub, anyone? Glass sliding doors lead from the deck to the living room, letting in plenty of natural light. When the days aren’t so sunny, get a fire crackling in the wood-burning stove to keep cosy. There’s plenty of room in the kitchen, where a range-style cooker awaits for the chef of the group, and there’s dining for everyone in the centre of the open-plan living area. Bedrooms are soothingly neutral tones and, out here in the protected nature reserve, there’s nothing but the sound of kayak paddles and birdsong to wake you.
