Just outside the pretty ski village of Mauterndorf, this chalet home provides the perfect respite after a day on the slopes. It’s a ten-minute walk, or two-minute drive, to the Grosseckbahn Mauterndorf ski lift, whisking you up the side of the mountain to runs for all levels. While, two kilometres away, you’ve got the centre of town, packed with bars, restaurants and grocery shops. Hiking trails lead from just outside your front door into the glorious Lungau valley. In summer, the garden is a delight, with mountain views on all sides and glass sliding doors blending indoors and outdoors. The living room really grabbed us, with its double-height ceiling creating a spacious feel and wood beams running almost like a teepee above you. The sofa runs across all four walls, adding to the teepee feel. The banquet-sized dining table feels as though it’s carved from a single log and raw-wood accents are a reminder of the great outdoors just beyond this home’s walls. Bedrooms all have that cabin-in-the-woods vibe and some come with built-in desks or separate seating areas.
