We should warn you – you may never see Rome’s iconic sights when you’ve got this sensational apartment as your home. Not because it’s not incredibly well-connected, but because you may just get lost in the extravagance and fun of this incredible loft space. With countless pieces of art, a games room equipped with a foosball table and a retro arcade game, a library of DVDs and a wet bar, you’ll be tempted to stay inside all day. We love the plethora of original artworks created by local craftspeople using recycled materials that create a fun and vibrant atmosphere from the moment you walk through the door. There’s an air of 1960s chic in some of the furnishings, but the eclectic blend of ornaments and furniture defies being categorised into a set period. A perfect example? The chaise longue that's modelled on Louis XIV’s shoe. Lounge here with a glass of bubbly before gathering around the stylish dining table for an Italian feast. You’ll love cooking up meals in the industrial-style kitchen with its cheery houseplants, while the two desk spaces beneath the respective mezzanine bedrooms will make working from home a pleasure. Factor in the comfortable beds and beautifully tiled bathrooms, and you’ve got everything you need for a chic escape. When you do decide to tear yourself away from your pad's entertainment, you’ve got plenty to see and do within easy reach. The Colosseum is a thirty-minute walk (or a seven-minute subway ride from Garbatella station which is a five-minute walk away) while the Circus Maximus is twenty-five minutes on foot from your door. With plenty of restaurants, bars and shops (including a supermarket two blocks away) in your artsy Garbatella neighbourhood too, you’ll have no trouble making your Roman holiday dreams come true here.
Home truths:
*At capacity, two guests will be sleeping on the futon in the games room
*There's no lift in the building – the home is also spread across two floors with winding stairs to reach the mezzanine levels, so it may not be suited to those with limited mobility
*Unfortunately, this home isn't suitable for infants under two years old
*The metro line runs beneath the building, so you may hear the odd train pass by
*Both bedrooms have clothes rails instead of wardrobes
*Free on-street parking is available just outside the home, but we recommend skipping the car and using Rome's public transport instead – Roma Ostiense station is a six-minute walk
*You can take an express train from Ostiense station to reach Fiumicino Airport in thirty minutes
