Just a three-minute walk from As Vig's fine sandy beaches along the Eastern Jutland peninsula, you'll find this contemporary lodge retreat. Recently renovated and delivering all the Nordic vibes you're chasing, expect wooden hues, restful muted grey interiors, and of course, an obligatory wood-burning fire to get your hygge on (the underfloor heating keeps things toasty too). In warmer months, take things outside to the deck, where you can catch glimpses of the sea. Between the bubbly hot tub, sunbathing terraces, and vast lawns (complete with a trampoline for little ones), you could easily while away the whole afternoon here. Then fire up the barbecue for sunset mealtimes – the covered terrace will keep things cosy and sheltered should the sea breeze pick up. When the sea finally lures you in, you can be there in no time for sandcastle building, kite flying, and picnics. But Eastern Jutland is so much more than its fine beaches. Dive right into the great outdoors, exploring lush green valleys, deep ravines, and fjords aplenty with guided walks and ferry trips close by. Jump in the car for a mooch about neighbouring Horsens, with its colourful harbour (nineteen-minute drive) and views of its mighty fiord. Or, for something a little buzzier, the happening restaurants, art museums, and old town of Denmark's second-biggest city, Aarhus (one hour drive), is an afternoon well spent.

About Denmark

If you've ever travelled to Denmark, you've probably visited Copenhagen – you might have heard stories about The Little Mermaid statues, visited the Tivoli Gardens, and sampled the burgeoning culinary scene.
