Inside, you'll find exposed beams antique wooden furniture and a comfortable sitting area that's a dream after a busy day. Share the bottle of wine and chocolates your host leaves for you around the dining table, then sink into the sumptuous bed when you're ready for a good night's sleep. In the mornings, enjoy a quick breakfast prepared in the small kitchenette before heading out for the day. You're slap bang in the heart of Le Marais, tucked away on a quiet street. Wander down the cobbled lanes, ducking in and out of the local shops and artisan boutiques – we recommend shopping for cheese and other nibbles at the gourmet food stores along Rue Rambuteu – or browse the many museums in this neighbourhood. When you're feeling peckish, grab a table at a trendy bistro or try the local cuisine at one of the many restaurants. Notre Dame is a twelve-minute walk from your doorstep, but if you want to switch things up, enjoy a cruise along the Seine – your host leaves two tickets as part of your welcome gift.

*The host only accepts bookings up to six months in advance
*This apartment comfortably fits two people, but two further guests can sleep on the sofa bed - it will be a bit of a squeeze, and it would be at the expense of living space
* There is no lift so be prepared for a climb to the second floor
* Though the kitchen is well-stocked with cookware, it lacks an oven and the hob is quite small – we think it's good for light bites, but we recommend eating out for dinner
* This home isn't the brightest, particularly towards the end of the afternoon
