Tucked in the 14th arrondissement away from the bustling crowds of Paris’ centre, this apartment is a real gem for those travelling for work as well as families looking for a quieter base on the doorstep of the city sights. This home strikes a unique balance of history and modernity – there's a light-filled contemporary living space and bedroom on the first floor, while the basement offers a stone-arched master suite, illuminated with skylights. Wake up in the vaulted space refreshed, then spend some time me time reading in the hide loungers with your holiday read before taking an invigorating soak in the bathtub. The dining area is perfect for sharing croissants from your local boulangerie, while the plump leather sofa is a delight to sink into after a day strolling around Jardin du Luxembourg. Nearby, the Paris Catacombs are fifteen minutes away on foot if you fancy a subterranean tour of the city, whilst the Tour Montparnasse takes a similar amount of time if you prefer to explore the city from greater heights. You’re positioned within a short distance of the left bank’s vibrant and traditional restaurants where you can enjoy steaming garlicky moules and a glass of Chenin Blanc along the River Seine.

Local guide

About Montparnasse & Catacombs

This part of town is mostly residential but works well as a base for exploring the charms of the nearby 6th and the 7th arrondissements. It was famously home to a community of prominent twentieth-century artists and intellectuals - Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre, Max Ernst and Pablo Picasso to name a few. Parc Montsouris is one of the city's most colourful public spaces and well worth seeking out. Be sure to check out the Roman Catacombs too if you're of the morbid disposition - stacks of skulls and bones await you!
