Michelin-starred restaurants, outstanding architecture, and designer shops are just some of the spoils of Copenhagen. But if you drive only forty-five minutes to the north coast of Sealand, Hornbæk offers a completely different lifestyle – although it’s still close enough to all the urban delights. This spa town features KURBADET by Ilse Jacobsen, as well as a gorgeous sandy beach fifteen minutes on foot from this peaceful home. While recently built in 2020, we love the nods to tradition, where wood is of course the main exterior feature. Natural grain and black stained planks create this stylish shell, with tall windows and a wide wooden decking to complete the outdoor offering. But when you’re not sunbathing on the loungers or nibbling smørrebrød at the alfresco dining table, head inside to admire the interiors. The use of glass allows nature to join you indoors, with windows framing lush trees like oil paintings on the wall. A matte-black fireplace sits in the lounge, waiting patiently for fresh logs to keep this space cosy and offer a hygge experience. Minimalist furniture and a matching kitchen add to the sense of sophistication – but for the big kids, there’s an activity room with a bright orange sofa and ping pong table to bring a bit of extra joy.
