* We recommend hiring a car for ease of getting around. There's driveway parking for four cars on site – spaces are uncovered, so factor that in if you're travelling in winter or need shade in summer.
* If you're driving in winter, you may need a 4-wheel drive vehicle or snow chains to reach the home. Factor that into your transport planning if you're coming from further afield.
* The Truckee Amtrak line passes close by, and the occasional train is visible and audible from the sun porches. Worth bearing in mind if you're a light sleeper.
