Sunset Solana

Panoramic Pacific views and direct sightlines over the Del Mar Racetrack make this Solana Beach apartment hard to leave – especially come sunset, when the balcony barbecue and the horizon both come into their own. The living and dining areas share the same outlook, so the coast is never far from sight whether you're cooking or eating. Beach gear is ready to go on site for the half-mile walk to the shore, and a pool and sauna await on your return. The Cedros Design District – cafes, galleries, independent shops – is an easy walk away for when you want to explore.

Home truths:
* The apartment is a single-storey home, but you'll need to descend a flight of stairs to reach the entrance – there is no ramp or lift access, so it may not suit guests with limited mobility.
* One of the bedrooms has a single-over-double bunk bed that can sleep up to three people – we think it might be best suited to children.
* If you're travelling with a baby or toddler, a cot is available – worth requesting from your host before you arrive.
* You'll have access to the on-site swimming pool and sauna here. They're shared with the building's other residents.
* You'll have two covered carport spaces here – handy given how much easier exploring the wider area is by car.
