There's a saltwater pool for long afternoons and the sheltered terrace features a barbecue for lingering evening meals. The garden is full of olive and centuries-old trees, with shaded corners and a cobbled path drawing you outside at every hour. When you do venture further afield, Pistoia is just minutes away, and both Lucca and Florence are within easy reach for a day of Renaissance-era wandering.

Home truths:
* Due to this home's location, we recommend hiring a car to get the most out of your stay. Parking is available for up to four cars on the driveway.
* The swimming pool is only available for use between the last Saturday in April and the first Saturday in October.
* A caretaker occupies an independent part of the villa during your stay, though they don't share any outdoor spaces.
* Please note the kitchen is on the first floor and can only be reached by an external staircase.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair. You'll need to request them in advance.
* This is a lived-in home. You should expect some of the host's personal belongings to be present during your stay.
