There's something inescapably romantic about the antique mahogany furniture, ornate wall panels and the chandelier hanging above the dining table. We also found it impossible not to fall for the balcony, which looks down onto the wide boulevards below. If you need to work during your stay, there's a fantastic office space painted in a rich red and laden with instruments in case you fancy a musical interlude between emails. If, however, you are here to explore the French capital, this is an ideal spot — the sprawling art collection in the Musée Jacquemart-André is about a minutes' walk, while the Arc de Triomphe can be reached in a quarter of an hour.
