Orange Scent in Nardo

A 17th-century palazzo wrapped around a courtyard of orange trees and a stone pool – this is the kind of place that makes the whole of a trip feel different. Breakfasts happen in a vaulted room beside the water, long afternoons unfold on sun loungers, and evenings drift into alfresco dining under the open sky. The six individually styled bedrooms each have their own character, from the generous Red Room to the Blue Room's eastern atmosphere. Baroque Piazza Salandra is a two-minute walk away, and Santa Caterina's white sandy beach is about twenty minutes by car.

Home truths:
* For those with reduced mobility, there's a ground floor bedroom and bathroom here.
* The Red Room's main bed can be configured as twins, and the sitting area sofa converts into an extra bed – let your host know your preference in advance.
* The Ochre bedroom is quite small with limited storage space. However, it has everything you need for a comfortable night's sleep.
* The main kitchen and dining room are on the first floor while the pool, garden, and breakfast room are on the ground floor – you'll naturally move between levels for meals and time outdoors.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and a high chair – request them ahead of your arrival.
