Three blocks from the sand in North Manhattan Beach, this 1970s house has been preserved with real care – period tiles, vintage hardware, and carefully sourced collectibles that give it a sense of place you won't find in a renovated rental. A floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace anchors the main living area, and wide sliding doors open onto a west-facing balcony with direct ocean views and Pacific sunsets. The beach kit is comprehensive – surfboards, Linus bikes, roller-skates, and more – and Manhattan Beach Pier is around ten-minutes away by bike.

Home truths:
* There's no air conditioning here – the home relies on ceiling fans to keep things cool. That works well in the coastal breeze for much of the year, but if you're visiting during a warm spell, it's worth bearing in mind.
* The walk to the beach is downhill on the way there – which means a fairly steep uphill climb on the way back. It's a short trip, but worth knowing if you're carrying gear or travelling with anyone who finds hills tricky.
* There is a separate two-bedroom home immediately behind this one that is also rented out – you won't have the plot entirely to yourselves.
* There's free parking for up to two cars on the driveway.
* Well-behaved pets are welcome to accompany you during your stay.
