Above the Rocca

Perched on the slopes of the Rocca di Garda, around 1 km from the town centre, this villa sits within nearly an acre of gardens planted with apple, fig, and persimmon trees – a secluded retreat with sweeping Lake Garda views from the living room, main bedroom, and pool. A large terrace with a barbecue handles alfresco evenings well, while inside, an ancient fireplace divides the living room into a TV area on one side and a reading nook on the other – a nice detail that gives the space a sense of purpose beyond just passing through.

Home truths:
* Due to the location of this home, we recommend hiring a car for ease of getting around. There's free parking for up to two cars on the driveway.
* To reach the villa, you'll drive along a narrow dirt road before passing through the main gate. Worth bearing in mind if you're arriving after dark or with an unfamiliar vehicle.
* The pool is unheated and open from 20th April to 1st October.
* If you're travelling with young children, your host can provide a cot – request it in advance to make sure it's ready on arrival.
* Well-behaved pets are welcome to accompany you during your stay for no additional charge.
