Back inside, the light-filled living room is a pleasant place to land after a day of exploring – whether for a few drinks and a film on the sofa or a full meal cooked in the kitchen.

* Getting to the apartment involves a fair amount of stair-climbing – there are eight steps up to the building entrance, then seventy-one stairs to reach the third floor, plus a further seventeen steps inside the apartment itself. If you or anyone in your group has difficulty with stairs, this home may not be the right fit.
* Towels, shower gel, shampoo, toilet paper, and bedding are provided when you arrive but won't be replenished during your stay, so plan accordingly if you're here for longer.
* Parking in central Edinburgh can be tricky, so we recommend arriving by public transport or using Waverley Station as your hub – it's about a ten-minute walk away.
* Given the home's central spot, expect to hear some street noise throughout your stay.
