Combe Martin is a friendly village on the North Devon coast, tucked into a sheltered valley at the western edge of Exmoor National Park.
The village follows one of the longest high streets in England -- stretching nearly two miles from the hills down to a sandy bay with excellent rock pools at low tide. Combe Martin sits right on the South West Coast Path and makes a wonderful base for walking, water sports, and exploring both the dramatic Exmoor coastline and the golden beaches of North Devon.
Combe Martin has a good range of everyday amenities, including a Co-op supermarket, a post office, a pharmacy, a newsagent, and several cafes and takeaways. There are fish and chip shops, a bakery, and a handful of gift and surf shops along the high street. The village also has a doctor's surgery and a primary school.
Ilfracombe is approximately 4 miles to the west and offers a wider range of independent shops, galleries, restaurants, and a Lidl supermarket. Barnstaple, the main market town for North Devon, is approximately 13 miles away and has Tesco, Sainsbury's, and a full range of high street shops, banks, and services. Barnstaple also hosts the historic Pannier Market on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays.
