La Viña Living

Right in Cádiz's La Viña neighbourhood, this apartment has a lot going for it. The shared rooftop terrace is our favourite spot – perfect for sunbathing above the city. Down at street level, the bougainvillaea-draped atrium feels quintessentially Andalusian, while the calm, interior-facing living space keeps the noise of the city faded away. Tucked in one of Cádiz's most characterful neighbourhoods, you're steps from La Caleta Beach and the twin castles of Santa Catalina and San Sebastián – an effortlessly well-placed base for exploring the old town.

Home truths:
* At full occupancy, two guests will sleep on the sofa bed in the living area. That said, we think the space will be a bit snug for five guests – we'd suggest a maximum guest count of four.
* You'll have access to the building's rooftop terrace here. It's shared with other residents.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair. You'll need to request them in advance.
* The apartment faces an interior courtyard rather than the street, so it stays quieter than many Cádiz city-centre apartments.
* You won't find an oven here – though there is a hob. We think the kitchen is better suited to prepping lighter bites than large meals.
