Ski-in, ski-out access at Big Sky Resort is rare, and this slope-side cabin in Moonlight Basin delivers it directly – step outside and you're on a groomed run connecting straight to Derringer and Six Shooter Lifts. Inside, vaulted ceilings and a wood-burning fireplace anchor the living room, where frost-capped peaks fill the view beyond the glass. The covered deck with a private hot tub is where the day winds down, red wine in hand with the mountain runs stretching out behind you. Come summer, the slopes give way to hiking trails, fly fishing, and scenic chairlift rides.

Home truths:
* Bedroom three has a single-over-double bunk bed along with a pull-out single trundle bed. This room might be best suited to children.
* Early and late in the season, conditions can affect the ski-in, ski-out access here – bear this in mind if you're booking at the edges of the ski calendar.
* There's no air conditioning here, so summer stays will rely on natural ventilation and the cooler mountain air. Big Sky's altitude keeps temperatures manageable, but it's worth packing a light layer for evenings regardless of the season.
* A starter set of consumables – soap, paper products, dish and laundry detergent, and similar basics – is provided on arrival. Once these run out, restocking is down to you, so if you're staying for a longer trip it's worth picking up supplies on the way in.
* You're in a slope-side mountain community, so a car is essential for reaching shops, restaurants, and anything beyond the resort. Factor in a grocery run on arrival to stock up for the stay.
