Above Kerasia

Perched at the end of a quiet country lane above a Corfu bay, this villa is the kind of place where the view does most of the talking – a sweep of Ionian Sea stretching out to distant mountains, best appreciated from the solar-heated infinity pool or over breakfast on the terrace. When the sun dips, the ground-floor living room with its fireplace is a cosy spot, making the villa work just as well in spring or autumn. Kerasia beach is a five-minute drive, and dinner in Agios Stephanos or Kassiopi is an easy evening option when you'd rather let someone else cook.

Home truths:
* While some of the bathrooms aren't photographed, expect the style and quality to be consistent with the rest of the home.
* For those with reduced mobility, there are three ground floor bedrooms and bathrooms here.
* If you're travelling with little ones, your host can provide a cot and high chair for free – just request them in advance and bring your own linen.
* The pool is heated from May to mid-June and again from mid-September to October. If you're visiting in July or August, the water will be unheated – fine on hot days, but worth bearing in mind if you're sensitive to cooler temperatures.
* You'll need a car here. The nearest waterfront tavernas are a five-minute drive, Kassiopi's shops and restaurants are a fifteen-minute drive, and Corfu Town is around fifty minutes away.
